I have just recently bought a Jensen 3.5″ Touch Screen Portable Navigation System (NVX-225) and I was wondering if it serves its purpose. I’ve heard mixed reviews about many of the recent GPS navigational systems and it turns out that Jensen isn’t as big as the TomTom GO 910 which was what I ‘was’ considering. BUT, I decided that $ 400 for a navigation system is out of my pockets and I really just needed one that would do its job as thoroughly as possible. The Jensen NVX-225 had a good price @ $ 180 but that alone left me pondering if whether or not I got the best bang for my buck. I haven’t heard much from Jensen’s Touch & Go portable navigation system but I would like to hear any one’s opinion who has this product and how it compares to the TomTom GO 910 specifically concerning the sole purpose of ‘navigating’. I could really care less about all the additional features the TomTom GO 910 has to offer though the specs help seal the deal as a consumer…just…not for $ 400 or $ 500.

Jensen NVX225
The good: The Jensen NVX225 in-car GPS device is affordably priced and offers text- and voice-guided directions and other basic navigation tools.
The bad: The NVX225′s interface and overall user experience isn’t as smooth as competing products, and it lacks text-to-speech functionality. The points-of-interest database is also out of date.
The bottom line: As an entry-level GPS device, the Jensen NVX225 offers all the basics at an affordable price tag, but you can get a better user experience and more from the Mio C230 or Garmin Nuvi 200.
a better alternative: Mio DigiWalker C230
he good: The Mio DigiWalker C230 portable navigation system offers text-to-speech functionality and an affordable price tag. Its screen is much improved over its predecessor’s.
The bad: The onscreen keyboard is a bit cramped, and we wish there was an easier way to adjust the volume.
The bottom line: With an improved display and the addition of text-to-speech functionality, the Mio DigiWalker C230 is a solid and affordable entry-level portable navigation system for GPS newbies.
